If you’ve been bitten by an animal or may have been exposed to rabies:

  1. Call Ottawa Public Health (OPH) first:

    • Mon–Fri, 8:30 am–4:30 pm: 613-580-6744

    • After hours/weekends/holidays: Call 3-1-1 and ask for a Public Health Inspector

  3. Ask OPH:

    • If rabies post-exposure treatment (RPEP) is needed

    • If treatment can be delivered to our clinic in time or if you should go to the ER

  4. Call our clinic back with OPH’s recommendation so we can arrange care if needed.
