AstraZeneca vaccine

In light of the Ontario government’s decision on May 11, 2021 to pause the rollout and administration of first doses of the AstraZeneca COVID vaccine, our COVID vaccine clinic originally scheduled for May 15, 2021 must be cancelled.

All patients who had an appointment booked to get their vaccine at our clinic should register on the government website at the link below if they are eligible:

Booking for adults 40 years of age and older on the provincial booking system will begin on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at 8:00 am.

We are awaiting news from the Ontario government and Ottawa Public Health as to the plan for those who have received the AstraZeneca vaccine as their first dose. Rest assured that the reason for the pause is multifactorial (including an increased supply of mRNA vaccines and declining COVID numbers) and you did the right thing by getting the AstraZeneca vaccine when it was available to you! You took an extremely effective vaccine, decreasing your risk of illness, hospitalization and death, and contributing to the decreasing transmission of COVID in our community. The overall risk of blood clots remains very low (estimated 1.7: 100,000 based on Ontario data and 1: 1 million for 2nd doses based on UK data).

Please do not phone or email the clinic in regard to COVID vaccines.  Once we get direction from Ottawa Public Health we will then send out an email broadcast to update patients.
